The North Carolina Department of Transportation says the North River Bridge in Carteret County has reopened after a crane collapse this morning.
The U.S. 70 span reopened around 11:00 a.m.
The mishap occurred between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The crane was being used to remove the old U.S. 70 bridge when it collapsed. The crane was all the way across the new bridge.
The crane was on a barge when the accident happened. The DOT said it is investigating how it happened and ensure that it does not happen again.
No one was injured by the crane collapse.
