On Monday, August 5, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice announced that Swank Construction had been awarded a nearly $215 million project to rehabilitate or replace more than 24 bridges along Interstate 70 between Pennsylvania and Ohio, the Associated Press reports.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) reportedly received bids from five companies for the project, but that Swank Construction was the lowest bidder.

WVDOT Construction Engineer Joe Juszczak told the news agency that the bridges on the east side of the Wheeling Tunnel will be replaced, because the steel is rusting and the concrete eroding, but the rest of the bridges will be rehabilitated.

Work should begin this fall and is expected to be completed within three years.
